Technical Information

The app may access basic system information for functionality:

Note: We do not collect device identifiers, system version numbers, or any technical information that could be used for tracking or identification.

Completely Offline Storage

Mathema is designed as a completely offline application with maximum privacy protection:

• All educational data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework
• App preferences are stored in iOS UserDefaults
• No network requests are made by the app
• No data is transmitted to external servers or third parties
• Data is encrypted using iOS built-in security features
• Data is protected by your device passcode and biometric authentication
• No internet connection is required for app functionality

Optional iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync:

• Progress data syncs across your Apple devices
• Data is encrypted during transmission and storage
• You can disable sync at any time in Settings
• Data remains under your Apple ID control

Educational Institution Integration

Apple Business Manager / Apple School Manager

When used through educational institutions:

• Schools manage student accounts through Apple's systems
• Progress data may be shared with authorized teachers and administrators
• Schools control data access and retention policies
• All sharing complies with FERPA and applicable privacy laws

ClassKit Integration

Through Apple's ClassKit framework:

• Teachers can assign specific activities
• Progress reports are generated for educational purposes
• Data sharing is limited to authorized educational personnel
• Students and parents can view shared data in Apple's Schoolwork app

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Mathema is designed for educational use and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
• Educational institutions obtain necessary parental consent
• Data collection is limited to educational purposes only
• Parents can request access to or deletion of their child's data through their school

Educational Privacy (FERPA Compliance)

For schools using Mathema, we comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA):

Data Retention and Deletion

Individual Users

• Data is retained locally until you delete the app
• You can reset progress data through app settings
• Uninstalling the app removes all local data

Educational Institutions

• Schools control data retention according to their policies
• Data may be retained for academic record purposes
• Students leaving the institution may have data removed

Third-Party Services

Mathema operates with zero third-party services for maximum privacy:

• Apple Services Only: App Store distribution, optional iCloud sync, ClassKit for education
